[WINDSOR]  Rino Bortolin, restaurateur, author, and local food advocate will again challenge the Windsor City Council seat in Ward 3 by filing his candidacy today.  Bortolin, a lifetime Windsor resident, is the co-owner/operator, with his wife Anastasia Adams, of Rino’s Kitchen & Ale House.  His campaign is focussed on strengthening neighbourhoods and empowering businesses.

Bortolin feels his experience in business and the community makes him the right fit for the Council seat.

“With my experience I can be both Business Focussed and Community Driven. In Ward 3 we have a resurging Downtown and a diverse population. I want to ensure that those voices are heard and that there is someone at the Council table that is not afraid to advocate for them.  We build healthy communities around strong, vibrant neighbourhoods.  I feel I can best represent their interests because I understand what it takes.”

Rino’s Kitchen’s success is built upon Bortolin’s passion for Windsor/Essex and his belief in supporting local businesses.  His business has supported and featured local farmers and producers even authoring a cookbook based on all local ingredients.  As head of the culinary tourism steering committee for Tourism Windsor-Essex Pelee Island he showcases the area as one the best and brightest of culinary destinations.

He has been most vocal on issues such as the beer store boycott which has gained momentum recently across the province and he can also be heard as a regular panellist on Rose City Politics on CJAM expressing his views on politics.

“For 20 years Fulvio Valentinis has served with great conviction and integrity.  He has exemplified the qualities needed in public life.  He has served Ward 3 well.  I look forward to working hard for Ward 3 with similar conviction and integrity.  My primary focus will be speaking with local businesses and residents, getting to know their issues as we move forward and implement fresh new ideas.”

Rino is married to Anastasia Adams. Together they have three children Jack (11), Charlie (9), and Wilson (4)
